intro.
A shroud-based viera by nature, not by choice. He roams the through the woodlands of the Black Shroud and the tundras of Coerthas, searching for something, to an almost aimless extent.Affable, yet Irreverent; Hypocritical, Distrusting. He'll do the work, strike a bargain, and be polite about it too if it means some gil lining his pocket.
An adventurer not only by trade. He can't resist a decent challenge, or a new sight to see.

even if it doesn't need to be said, i'll say it anyway. i am not my character. ic and ooc are separate, please respect this, and let me know if this'll be an issue.
darker themes, more morally-ambiguous topics are fine. as a horror and mystery fan, i am down with the creepy and grittier parts of ffxiv's world and story. there are a few hard no's for me when it comes to things that will make me uncomfortable, but i'll be sure to mention if it comes to that point.
not a fan of going to player-ran rp venues for first meetings, but i am alright with rping in the overworld or any in-game establishments and buildings.
discord rp is fine, but if it drags on too long, or gets forgotten, or anything other issues that come up with rping over discord...
i will probably ask that we either move to in-game or ask that we perform a summary/time-skip.

as someone who only joined the game after endwalker's release, i can confidently say i don't know everything when it comes to ffxiv's lore. i personally have a fondness for the pieces i've learned about 1.0's lore, if that is a concern, let me know! same goes with lore bending, with topics like dalmasca, soulstones, and spiritbonding, and other in-game places and mechanics, not everything is entirely fleshed out. i am alright with lore bending, granted that you don't expect my character's lore to change to fit yours.
voidsent, garleans, light echo users, and the like are fine.
i hard pass on things such as warriors of light and high power-fantasy characters. things that fall under the category of lore-breaking are a hard no. rule v.
keeping stuff vague
while i do mention bits and pieces hinting towards rennyn's overarching story, i do not wish to reveal everything. his past and background are something that he is icly in the dark about and so other characters should be too! i prefer the method of learning stuff ic versus having the information at hand and then not mentioning it.
i use this guideline when rping with others for the first time. i tend to only look at the basic info, hooks and ooc guidelines. anything past that, i try to avoid.

as mentioned before, i'm an avid horror fan.
rp with themes such horror, mystery, and overall adventure are my cup of tea. longterm.
frequent and consistent meet ups / some sort of continuous narrative or plot.
even if rennyn doesn't want to admit it, the man could use some friends or at least someone tolerable enough to be an ally. i enjoy putting him in uncomfortable situations with people he doesn't know which personality to front or act around, surprise me! adventures/events.
while rennyn sometimes offers the odd chance to delve into some areas otherwise left uninhabitable, i am more than welcome to place him as a party member in someone else's event.
as a former forever dm, i am dying to branch out and see what kind of stories and events others create! need a side character or npc-esque fella for your adventure? we can work something out. employers.
kinda falls in line with long-term?
brief jobs and marks are fine, and certainly cool and with on and off business angle.
even if the man's an adventurer at heart, a decent pay is what'll make him work. hunting marks, gathering materials, delving into ruins for artifacts, even the odd escort leve, rennyn isn't too proud to accept a job that pays.
ideally though, work as a hunter or gatherer is what works best. he may be based in the shroud, but he knows it and its surrounding areas like the back of his hand. need something found or need to be escorted somewhere? rennyn's got it covered. any sort of connections.
as stated before, i'm down for giving rennyn a few friends to count on... but that doesn't mean enemies, or even connections from his past aren't off the table.
he may come off as easy to get along with, but it becomes very clear that such behaviors are a front to throw anyone off his scent, which can make rennyn hard to deal with. whatever comes of it, i don't mind working something out.

about.
Based in the remains of the West Shroud, Rennyn works as an adventurer, hunter, and scavenger. He completes hunt bills, recovers artifacts, and other arduous tasks. The viera has even garnered a semi-amicable business relationship with some would-be scholars or collectors thanks to his unique accessibility to Allagan fragments. He tends to work mostly in the lands of Mor Dhona, The Black Shroud, Coerthas, and on rare occasions, Dravania. Curiously, the viera also spends his free time scouring the areas most affected by Dalamud, searching for something hidden beneath the wreckage.Due to his ability to speak the Dalmascan language with its native vernacular, it is assumed he could have been originally from the Skatay Range like most veena. His reluctance to elaborate on his past is less to do with being secretive and more to do with the fear of the unknown, as discussing recent historical events showcases that spots of the viera's memory have been erased by an unknown cause. His vieran biology prevents him from using most magicks without risk of going into a frenzy, which is the reason for his choice of weapon being the greatsword.His duplicitous demeanor can often sway between mirthful, mischievous, and downright cruel. He can and will abuse loopholes if given the chance or if it makes situations convenient. Rennyn is a hypocrite who revels in being trusted, yet is reluctant to give back the same courtesy. He grows notably anxious, and even sickly, the further he strays from the areas around The Black Shroud and Coerthas, though the reason seems to escape him whenever brought up.

build: average and typical in comparison to other viera, tends to make himself look bigger with certain clothes.
Typically he looks..
Distant. with the bottom half of his face consistently covered, it can be difficult to tell what mood he's in. look for other tells such as his eyes, posture, etc. for that sort of thing. his style is always practical, modest, in sense that it looks like he could fix his own clothes and not in a good way. notably, he rarely shows skin, and tries to keep most people at arm's length.
overall, amicable.. but barely.






Hooks.
newfound adventurer?
Despite how comfortable Rennyn seems in the adventuring profession, he is relatively new to it all. Maybe he catches your eye as a new face in the guild's halls? Or maybe you're new to the game too, looking for a fellow rookie to join you on your expeditions.
Artifacts, Allagan or Otherwise.
A lot of the viera's income stems from his ease of access to a large fragment of Dalamud. Comfortable in the Shroud and the Coerthas, he ventures off into the ruins left in the wake of Calamity. He's also willing to guide people on a journey through these areas, for the right price. Maybe you need an old scroll from the ruins of Amdapor? Or perhaps you're a scholar infatuated with ancient Allag?
Hunter for Hire.
Rennyn hunts beasts and tracks down men as part of his profession. Need the skin off a notorious beast out in the Coerthan Lowlands? Or maybe a friend has gone missing deep in the Shroud?
Aetherspurn and thinning aether.
Anyone with a keen eye for aether would notice that Rennyn's corporeal form seems to be heavily lacking of it. His aether is thin, as if he were afflicted with a sickness akin to Aetherspurn. Despite this, the viera seems to get along fine, at least within the confines of his main area of work.
Suspicions from Coerthas.
Have you heard the cries and screams that haunt the Coerthan Lowlands? Have you seen the shades that wander the wastelands? Don't worry, he's seen them too.
phenomenon from before the calamity.
Rennyn can often be spotted leaving and entering The Standing Corses of the Central Shroud. Deep in the caverns of the Spriggan's Dig lies a fickle yet functioning Aetherial Gate.
pure happenstance.
While Rennyn tends to lean towards being a wallflower in most circumstances, he has his moments. Often found making a trek through dravania, or completing levequests and marks in the shroud or coerthas, he's always on the move. Yet his patterns are predictable, predictable enough to make it easy to catch him.
